"As a leader, can you give your employees too much influence? The answer is no. This is shown by research from NFA, where they have investigated whether employees can have so much influence that it becomes a burden rather than a resource. According to senior researcher Thomas Clausen from NFA, the results clearly indicate that influence is an important resource in the psychosocial work environment, contributing to increasing well-being and mental health among employees in various types of jobs – even those who, in surveys, report having high influence in their work." (NFA, 2023)

The leadership education in Facilitative Leadership is based on the latest research and practical experience. It focuses on how, through facilitative, liberating, and authentic leadership, you can pave the way for more meaning, well-being, coherence, greater psychological safety, and the development of sustainable organizations for the future. The education is both theoretical, practical, and case-oriented, where you will also work with cases from your own organization.

You can choose to take the education on the dates listed below with participants from other companies and municipalities, or you can do as Erhvervshus Sydjylland did, take the education in-house as a joint qualification and competence-building process for the entire leadership team, with business psychologist Helen Eriksen as the instructor and facilitator, on dates customized and suitable for you.

Module 1: In Module 1, you/your team will gain insight into and an overview of how the dynamic, pedagogical toolbox – the 'leadership toolkit of the future' for facilitative and liberating leadership – looks in terms of:

  • Future organizations – a meta overview – what are we transitioning from and to.
  • The new leadership paradigm – what is it, what can it do, and why self-organizing organizations, facilitative and liberating leadership, and the resulting psychological safety, well-being, and joy at work are here to stay.
    • The facilitative leader and the person behind – an insight into the importance of the leader's self-awareness.
    • The personality psychology in the leadership paradigm of the future.
    • Conscious self-leadership, unconscious assumptions, and coping strategies.
    • Mindfulness as an effective and powerful leadership tool.
    • Tools to strengthen relational competencies.
    • Psychological safety.
    • The importance of holistic thinking, creating coherence, bridging, considerations about evolutionary purpose – and how do we go about it?

Module 2 and 3:
The new leadership paradigm and facilitative leadership, translation into practice. You will receive:

  • Six important strategic concepts within facilitative leadership.
  • Why involvement?
  • What facilitative leadership is and how it is practiced.
  • Models for involvement in decision-making.
  • Leadership styles and degrees of involvement.
  • How to design decision-making processes and strategic processes from directive to involving to fully self-directed – determined by the context.
  • How to involve without losing control?
  • What about delegation and self-leadership?
  • How is the leadership right used?
  • Crisis and leadership styles.
  • Experiences from other organizations in Denmark and the world that you can use.
  • How to get started?
  • The psychology of the new generations in general and specifically in relation to facilitative and liberating leadership. Basic knowledge about the possibilities of inspiring them to stay, making them conscious co-creators and bridge builders, so they not only thrive and feel psychologically safe but also make a difference, creating well-being and joy at work in your organization.

We summarize, evaluate ourselves and our process, look out towards the world, put on our visionary glasses, and reflect collectively on our own organization in relation to Denmark and the rest of the world. What have we learned? What has it done to us? And with what we now know, what is the vision and the next steps? What does the future demand? And how could we approach it on behalf of an entire organization – becoming visionary beacons for well-being and timely future development, if that is what we desire?

Teaching format, structure, dates, price, location – and registration.

The teaching alternates between theoretical presentations from business psychologist Helen Eriksen and practical exercises and cases where participants apply the theory to their own context. The education is structured over 3 intensive modules, each lasting 1 day from 08:30 to 17:00, including a lunch break and breaks in the morning and afternoon.

Competence-building opportunities: o ensure optimal implementation of the educational content individually, in the leadership team, and for the organization as a whole, individual leader coaching between modules is suggested. If you participate as a leadership team, circle leader coaching between modules is suggested, which can take place at your workplace, where, for example, individual coaching and circle coaching can be conducted on the same day. The prices for individual leader coaching are 1500 DKK per hour excl. VAT, circle coaching is 4500 DKK per hour excl. VAT with a maximum of 6-8 participants.

The price for the three intensive education modules is 18,900 DKK including VAT per person. Included in the amount are tuition, teaching materials, catering on course days – morning snacks, lunch, coffee, tea, healthy snacks.

Erhvervshus Sydjylland has engaged The Eriksen Institute, under the skilled guidance of Helen Eriksen, to design and facilitate a program on facilitative leadership. The reason for reaching out to Helen was a desire for a common and sustainable leadership language in a dynamic and complex organization. The program was divided into 3 modules, with both individual and collective coaching sessions in between. The leadership team has gained significant benefits from the training. In addition to establishing a common leadership language, the process has sparked many valuable discussions and reflections. It is my clear perception that Erhvervshus Sydjylland now stands strong—both in terms of being an attractive workplace and in ensuring that we create the maximum value collectively with our employees.

Jacob Chr. Nielsen, CEO Erhvervshus Sydjylland.

In the spring of 2023, I had the privilege of participating in Helen Eriksen's leadership training in facilitative leadership. The training is one of the most enriching programs I have attended, due in part to the combination of group modules, circle coaching, and individual leadership coaching. Through the group modules, we gained in-depth insights into the latest research and practices in leadership. This was significant, as trends indicate a shift from a growth paradigm to a well-being and coherence paradigm. In the group modules, we explored leadership styles, decision-making processes, psychological safety, self-leadership, and much more. Circle coaching was also a meaningful part of the training. As a relatively new leadership group with varying levels of experience, we created a common reference and a shared set of values. The insightful discussions contributed to strengthening our future collaboration within the group. The individual leadership coaching provided each of us the opportunity to explore our personal challenges and leadership styles. Each coaching session brought new insights, and we never left a circle coaching or an individual coaching without gathering valuable points that we can use in our ongoing development. The training has inspired me to view the organization as an organism where we are all connected. We must create together, and it should make sense, have a purpose, and provide value to the individual. A crucial learning from the training was the importance of mindfulness as an effective leadership tool. Mindfulness helps us face challenges with openness, empathy towards employees, and enables intuitive decisions in a complex world. The quality of the training is strongly linked to Helen Eriksen's unique personality and professional approach. Her presence, expertise, ability to relate theory to practice, as well as her energy, empathy, and infectious laughter create an inspiring and valuable learning experience. With a warm recommendation, I encourage other leaders to participate in this facilitative leadership training. Helen is a great source of inspiration, equipping participants with tools to navigate the complex world of modern leadership.

Anne Dorte Nielsen, PA, HR and Administration Manager, Erhvervshus Sydjylland.
