A clearer mind, increased energy and weight loss – are you interested?
Before we knew it, 2023 had arrived. A new year. A new start. It’s the time of New Year’s resolutions and New Year’s wishes. On macro level, I wish, among other things, for peace in the world, that life’s gifts and food are distributed so that there is enough for everyone, and that we globally together may change course and gradually get control of the climate crisis.
On the slightly smaller scale, I hope for you, me and all of us, that the new year will offer rewarding togetherness and cooperation, well-being, presence, the joy of the little things and health in body and soul, not least.
Fortunately research in health and well-being never has a dull moment, and speaking of New Year’s resolutions and New Year’s wishes, imagine that just by investing a week of your life, you can achieve a clearer mind, increased energy and a weight loss you may have wanted for a long time.
As if …
Yes, I know. it sounds like a pipe dream. We all know you can’t do that, not in the real world.
Except, YES, YOU CAN! And if I hadn’t tried it myself 30 years ago and then, ever since, 3 to 5 times a year, I too might think it sounds too good to be true.
Get to the point now, Helen, what are you talking about?
This newsletter deals with an age-old, highly effective way to boost your well-being and engage in some energizing self-care. A way that comes with increased self-insight, greater confidence, inner calm and stress reduction.
I am talking about fasting and all the benefits it can offer – to both your body and your mind.
You can fast in many different ways. My health transformation seminar ‘Let fasting set you free – discover the real you’, which I have been holding for 30 years, fine-tuning it along the way, lets you enjoy five regenerative and vitalizing days, where we fast together on organic, freshly squeezed vegetable juices, herb tea and vegetable broth. Every morning, we start the day with gentle yoga and movements that everyone can master. There are several talks and meditations every day, supplemented with massage and foot baths. The activities follow a very structured programme in order to support the inner transformation processes that unfold in your body and mind. And pssst, because of the way it’s structured, you’ll hardly feel hungry.
This is what a Norwegian top executive wrote me after participating in my seminar:
‘All leaders should complete this unique course before they take on leadership responsibilities, so that they first discover what it means to lead their own body and can then use these experiences in their leadership of others’
Why fasting?
From childhood, we use food and drink to help us handle everyday tasks and challenges, without being consciously aware of the process. We turn to sweets when we are upset, when we are rejected, when we feel inadequate or inferior. We might have one drink too many when we feel overwhelmed, in order to take the edge off our emotions. All these memories are stored and accumulated in the cells of our body, in our fat deposits, in the residue inside our digestive system, in our brilliant intestines.
When we fast, we give our body and mind a break, meditating on our visceral organs and glands. Finally, the body gets an opportunity to engage us in conscious dialogue without having to resort to generating all sorts of symptoms. This is when we begin to go from powerlessness to mastery in our connection with our brilliant body.
According to research, fasting can help us to:
Regenerate our brain tissue and neural networks
Boost our mental and physical energy
Regulate blood pressure
Regulate metabolic processes
Reduce intestinal inflammation
Reduce depression
Regulate constipation
Reduce migraine
Improve skin problems
Enhance the senses
Fasting does not necessarily require that you take a course or a seminar. However, I recommend that you avoid fasting on your own the first few times you do it, since fasting is not the same as simply avoid solid food. Fasting should only be conducted in consultation with a doctor. That is why I always have a doctor attached to the seminars, and you will only be accepted as a participant if it is deemed to be absolute safe for you.

In my next newsletter, I will, among other things, provide an organizational perspective on ways to create well-being, interconnectedness and more meaning. With evidence from both research and practical examples from Danish workplaces, we take a closer look at the synchronous, self-organizing and more management-free organizations, which in its wake appears to have less stress and dissatisfaction and in practice provides room and opportunity for increased well-being, co-creation and creative power of hitherto almost unheard dimensions.
Many hopeful January greetings for a 2023 with good health and happy interconnectedness.
